Statement

Deeply conscious of how fragile life can be, Catherine Lapointe views people and their history with a sensitive eye.  She borrows memories – worn out, erased by time – to reconstruct new life stories. She transports them to abandoned locations whose backdrop reflects the silence of winter.

Words sometimes blend smoothly into the image, repeat themselves like a poetic echo conveying departure, absence and abandonment. Ghostly characters, deserted homes, forgotten objects and relics of the past return to life in recreated settings.
